We all use Southampton’s streets – they connect us all together – but you would have to live in a cave not to notice that they are changing in front of our eyes.
Drivers race down our residential streets to beat the traffic, delivery vans park on the pavements blocking the way for vulnerable users, cars sit idling as their drivers check their phones.
It didn’t used to be like that. Kids could walk to school safely, they would play in the streets, people would stop to chat with their neighbours and would pop to the shops on their bikes. The streets were alive with people and that’s what we want back.
